Lifetime Achievement Awards to Mr. P.R.S. Oberoi
Mr. P.R.S. Oberoi was conferred with the Lifetime Achievement Award at International Luxury Travel Market (ILTM) held in Cannes in December, 2012.

The award was bestowed in recognition of Mr. Oberoi’s exceptional leadership, vision and contribution to develop The Oberoi Group as one of the world’s leading luxury hotel chains.

Mr. P.R.S. Oberoi also received Lifetime Achievement Award for his outstanding contribution to the Indian Hospitality Industry from the hon’ble Prime Minister of India Dr. Manmohan Singh. This award was announced by Economic Times, Awards for Corporate Excellence in November, 2012.
World Travel Awards, 2012
The Oberoi Group received three prestigious awards at the World Travel Awards 2012. The red carpet event was officially supported by Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, and hosted at The Oberoi, Gurgaon, New Delhi Capital Region on 12th December, 2012.

The Oberoi Group won the following awards:
  • Oberoi Hotels and Resorts voted “World’s Leading Luxury Hotel Brand”
  • For the second consecutive year, The Oberoi, Gurgaon voted ‘World’s Leading Luxury Hotel’
  • Trident, Gurgaon ranked ‘Asia’s Leading Hotel’, for the fourth consecutive year.
  Celebrating its 20th Anniversary in 2013, World Travel Awards
acknowledge and recognise excellence in the global travel and tourism industry. 
Condé Nast Traveller, India, Readers’ Travel Awards 2012
Condé Nast Traveller India, announced the winners of the second edition of the Readers’ Travel Awards at The Oberoi, Gurgaon on 29th November, 2012.

Two of our hotels won awards:

The Oberoi, Gurgaon was ranked ‘Favourite Business Hotel in India’ and The Oberoi Vanyavilas, Ranthambhore was the Runner- up under the ‘Favourite Boutique Hotel’ category in India.

Methodology - Readers of Condé Nast Traveller, India casted vote across 22 categories for their favourite destinations, hotels, airlines, spas, airports and more. The winners were then chosen after being scored on several parameters unique to each category.
HT City Crystals People’s Choice Awards, 2012
Hindustan Times held the country’s biggest food extravaganza – the 4th Annual HT City Crystals People’s Choice Awards for excellence in Food and Beverage on 12th December, 2012 at the ITC Maurya, New Delhi. The Oberoi Group received the following awards under the Critics’ Choice by Mr. Vir Sanghvi, noted food critic and Editorial advisor to Hindustan Times:

  1. Mr. Kapil Chopra, President, The Oberoi Group, India was conferred with the Hotelier of the Year award
  2. Amaranta, Indian coastal specialty restaurant at The Oberoi, Gurgaon was awarded the best Modern Indian restaurant
  3. Threesixtyº at The Oberoi, New Delhi received the award for the Best All Day Dining restaurant
  4. The Oberoi Patisserie and Delicatessen at The Oberoi, New Delhi was awarded the Best Bakery/Deli
The Economic Times, Acetech, Global Green Awards, 2012
The Global Green Awards 2012 are on the sidelines of ACE TECH 2012, a platform solely dedicated to the fast growing construction industry. The Oberoi Group received an award in the category of ‘Sustainable Infrastructure: Disciplines of Eco – Design in Energy, Water and Waste Management.’ 15 eminent people from different industries were felicitated and The Oberoi Group was the only awardee recognized from the Hospitality Industry. Mr. Arun Bahadur, Executive Vice President, Project and New Technology Engineering collected the award on behalf of our group on 8th December, 2012 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
Energy Conservation award
Trident, Jaipur received an award of recognition for “Energy Conservation and its efficient use from Department of Energy, Government of Rajasthan on 14th December, 2012.
Hotelier India Awards, 2012
In its fourth edition this year, there were 15 award categories recognizing the deserving individuals who have made a difference in their respective roles in the hospitality industry. The winners were selected by an expert panel of judges. The award ceremony was held at Westin, Gurgaon on 14th December, 2012.

CNBC Travel Awards, 2012
CNBC AWAAZ in association with Jammu and Kashmir Tourism and J&K Bank presented the sixth edition of CNBC AWAAZ Travel Awards, 2012, in a glittering ceremony where The Oberoi, Gurgaon received award for Best Hotel- Architecturally. The award ceremony was held on 20th November, 2012 in Srinagar.
India’s Future CIOs
Mr. Manoj Soni, Systems Manager at The Oberoi Udaivilas, Udaipur was selected for Future CIOs of India – 2012 and awarded by IT Next 100 magazine. The award ceremony took place at Novotel Hotel, Hyderabad on 2nd and 3rd December, 2012.

The NEXT 100 program, from ITNEXT, is a six month long intensive process to identify India’s senior IT Manager who has the skills, talent and spirit to become Future CIOs.

This year over 1600 IT managers participated in a series of activities, such as managerial and personality tests followed by a panel interview, which evaluated their management and leadership skills. A highlight of program was the personal interview of the shortlisted candidates by a committee of CIOs, comprising the awards jury.
Food and Beverage awards
The Oberoi Patisserie and Delicatessen won the NDTV Good Times Food Award 2012 for the 'Best Dessert & Coffee Menu'. The award ceremony was held at The Westin Gurgaon on 3rd December, 2012.

  • Best Chinese fine dining restaurant in Bangalore – Szechwan Court
  • Best Thai fine dining restaurant in Bangalore – Rim Naam
The award ceremony was held on 20th December, 2012 at ITC Royal Gardenia, Bangalore and the news was carried in Bangalore Times of India on 23rd December, 2012.
 Learning and Development Update
Oberoi Sales Management and Oberoi Way of Selling Programs
Five intensive and highly interactive training programs were conducted for sales executives across all domestic locations in September and October, 2012. The programs involved pre-work, competency assessment and extensive post program development to meet the individual participant needs. The programs proved to be a success due to the active involvement of all participants and the ongoing development journey of improvement.
Behavior Based Interviewing and Behaving with Kindness
Two internal programs on conducting behavior based interviews and managing teams with kindness were conducted by Supria Bali Dutta and Priti Sodhi across all hotels in India. The programs involved sharing of new concepts and best practices with extensive team work and engagement. The 12 programs received an overwhelming response in ten locations covering a total of 580 employees.
International experiential learning programs
Mr. Joydev Bhattacharya, Executive Chef, Trident, Nariman Point, Mumbai, Mr. Satbir Bakshi, Executive Sous Chef, The Oberoi, Mumbai and Mr. Saurav Banerjee, Executive Chef, The Oberoi Grand, Kolkata went through a three weeks experiential learning at three restaurants of the Marlon Abela Restaurant Corporation, London in September and October, 2012. Chef Deep Mohan Bajaj, Pastry Chef, The Oberoi, New Delhi attended three advanced courses in pastry and confectionary at Lenotre, Paris in September, 2012. All the chefs gained international exposure to new trends and best practices and look forward to sharing their knowledge across locations in the summer of 2013.
Supervisory Development Program
The second Supervisory Development Program (SDP) was concluded successfully in November, 2012. A total of 89 team members completed the three months program involving hotel operations training, behavioral training, personal interview with General Manager and an online Common Assessment Test. We congratulate all the ‘Oberoi Certified Supervisors’.
