Lifetime Achievement Award to Mr. P.R.S. Oberoi
Mr. P.R.S. Oberoi was honoured with the Lifetime Achievement Award by the All India Management Association (AIMA). The award was presented by Mr. Nandan Nilekani, Chairman, Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) on 21st February 2013.

The event took place in New Delhi and was attended by many prominent personalities including Ms. Preetha Reddy, Senior Vice President, AIMA and Managing Director, Apollo Hospitals Group; Justice J.S Verma-Former Chief Justice of India; Mr. Rajiv Pratap Rudy-Member of Parliament B.J.P, Mr. B.J Panda-Member of Parliament B.J.P; Mr. Sunil Kant Munjal - Joint Managing Director, Hero Motocorp Limited and Chairman, Hero Corporate Service Limited, India; Mr. Pramod Bhasin - Vice Chairman, Genpact and Mr. Bibek Debroy - Professor, Centre for Policy Research.

The Oberoi, New Delhi awarded Best 5 Star Deluxe Hotel in India

In recognition of its significant contribution to tourism in the country and unremitting commitment to excellence, The Oberoi, New Delhi was awarded the prestigious National Tourism Award in the Best Five Star Deluxe, India category. The award ceremony was held at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. on 18th March, 2013.

Talking about the accolade, Mr. Jay Rathore said, “The honour bestowed on us has been made possible by the efforts of our highly motivated and well-trained team members. Such recognition reinforces our commitment to improve consistently, anticipate our guests’ needs and live up to their expectations.”

Methodology of the award
Selection of awardees in the hotel categories are evaluated on the basis of Annual revenue earned and percentage increase in numbers of foreign guests stayed, International Certification and awards won related to service quality, security, eco-friendly measures and contribution of the hotel in promoting and conducting “Hunar Se Rozgar Programme”.

About National Tourism Awards

Instituted by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, the National Tourism Awards are the most coveted awards in the Travel and Tourism industry in India. Presented annually, in various categories, these awards acknowledge best hotels, restaurants, tour operators and travel agents for their exceptional performance and contribution to promoting India as a tourist destination.

The Oberoi Rajvilas, Jaipur was awarded the National Tourism Award in 2010 – 2011 and The Oberoi Amarvilas, Agra, won the award (in its respective category) for three consecutive years i.e. 2004 – 2005, 2005 – 2006 and 2006 – 2007.
DestinAsian Readers' Choice Awards, 2013
The Oberoi, New Delhi was chosen as the top hotel in New Delhi in a survey poll conducted by Destin Asian magazine. The Oberoi, Mumbai was the Runner-Up under the best hotel in Mumbai category.

DestinAsian magazine asked its readers to identify the crème de la crème of travel in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond. The survey results were published in the February-March 2013 edition of DestinAsian magazine.
Productivity Excellence Award to Trident, Jaipur
On 4th April 2013, Trident, Jaipur received the Productivity Merit Award in the hotel industry sector- Jaipur district, for the year 2011. The award was announced by Rajasthan State Productivity Council. The award was handed over by the Honourable Minister for Industry, Mr. Rajendra Pareek.
Methodology of the award
The jury analyzed the Quantitative and Qualitative factors of all the industries that had participated for the Productivity Excellence Award. The analysed quantitative factors were Capacity utilization and energy economics (in terms of rooms occupied v/s  fuel and electrical energy consumed  for the year 2010-11). Some of the qualitative factors analysed were efforts towards improvements in productivity, participative work system and culture, development and improvements made in technology, human resource development and standardization of processes, promotional activities like Corporate Social Responsibility and environmental management and general write up and Implementation of labour Law.

Threesixty°, the All-day dining restaurant at The Oberoi, New Delhi was awarded the Best Five –Star All-Day Dining Destination in Delhi and Amaranta at The Oberoi, Gurgaon was awarded the Best Concept Restaurant in Delhi and NCR by Mail Today’s Best of the Best Award, 2013.
The award recognized the restaurants for its fine quality of food, service, décor, and attention to detail.
Our chefs featured in the book ‘Celebrated Chefs of India’
Two of our company’s chefs, Chef Ravitej Nath, Executive Chef at The Oberoi, Gurgaon and Chef Davide Rebeccato, Italian Chef at The Oberoi, New Delhi, were featured in the book ‘Celebrated Chefs of India’. This book is dedicated to chefs of famous restaurants and has been put together by Ms. Marryam H. Reshii, a renowned restaurant critic and gastronomy writer.

About the book

Chefs are our heroes today for their talent, dedication and sheer hard work. We don’t always get to see their labour, but we do get to taste their delicious creations…The book features some 50 chefs across cuisines irrespective of their nationalities along with their signature dishes and recipes.  These dishes are easy to replicate at home.

 Learning and Development Update
Supervisory Development Program – The third Supervisory Development Program (SDP) began on 1st March, 2013. A total of 137 employees have entered the program and are currently undergoing hotel operations training. We wish all the SDP trainees a valuable learning experience and success at the completion of the program.

Executive Development Program –The first Executive Development Program (EDP) for the year 2013 was rolled out in March, 2013 and received with an overwhelming response. A total of 41 supervisors have been selected to undergo the program, due to begin on 8th April, 2013. We wish all the EDP trainees success for the program.

Employee Video Contest – An internal employee video contest called "We ♥ Our Workplace" was rolled out in February, 2013. The theme of the contest was showcasing our core values, what’s unique about our company and camaraderie. All the hotel teams put in their best to create original and very creative videos. These videos will together form a companywide film about employees, made by employees and will be uploaded on the company website. Watch this space for further updates.
