Day 5 - Udaipur
|
After breakfast, take a drive of approximately two hours out
of Udaipur to Kumbalgarh Fort.
Built by Rana Kumbha in the fifteenth century, this fort is one of the best examples
of defensive architecture in Rajasthan. A number of palaces, temples and monuments
were added within the fort walls over the next few centuries. This was one of the
most important fortresses of the Maharanas of Mewar.
Enjoy a gourmet lunch at Aodhi, a secluded hunting lodge near the fort; then drive
through the forests onward to the astounding Jain temple complex of Ranakpur.
This extremely beautiful temple complex lies in the peaceful valley of the Aravalli
hills. Built in the 15th century, the temples in this complex are beautifully crafted
and well preserved.

ancient Mewar, allow a special stress relieving massage at the Oberoi Spa to rejuvenate

Mahal, also known as the “Palace of Winds”.
Hawa Mahal, built in a unique design, is the landmark of Jaipur and was used by

Day 11 - Agra
|
Early morning visit to the Taj Mahal.
The Taj Mahal, built in white marble by Emperor Shahjahan as a mausoleum for his
queen Mumtaz Mahal, is a universal symbol of love. This magnificent monument is
best enjoyed in the early morning hours.
Return to the hotel for breakfast at Bellevue, the multi-cuisine restaurant. Later
visit the Agra Fort.
In the 16th and 17th centuries, at the time of the Mughals, Agra was the capital
of India. Construction of Agra Fort was originally started by Emperor Akbar in 1565,
but his son, Jahangir, and grandson, ShahJahan, later made additions. It houses
the Dewan-e-Khas and Dewan-e-Aam (Halls of Private and Public Audience) and its
walls are a silent witness to the rise and fall of the Imperial Mughal Empire. The
palaces and courtyards within the fort feature a variety of ingenious Islamic inspired
devices (some decorative, some more practical) within the fabric of the buildings.
Return to The Oberoi Amarvilas for lunch.
In the evening visit the Taj Mahal to see the monument changing colours at sunset.
Enjoy a private romantic dinner with wine served in the privacy of your room balcony

Day 12 - Agra - Delhi
|
After breakfast, drive for one hour to Fatehpur Sikri, a world heritage site and
the ancient Mughal capital of India.
Completed in 1571 by the Mughal Emperor Akbar, who was known to be a very tolerant
ruler, the buildings at Fatehpur Sikri blend both Islamic and Hindu elements in
their architectural style. Experts argue that Fatehpur Sikri is the greatest accomplishment
of Mughal architecture, surpassed only in reputation but not in its beauty by the
Taj Mahal. The cultural politics of the site remain to be written; perhaps the mammoth
chess board, where human figures were used as chess pieces and moved at the emperor's
will, provides a clue.
Enjoy a picnic lunch on way back to The Oberoi Amarvilas.
In the afternoon transfer to Agra airport to board your flight for Delhi departing
at 1700 Hours. Arrive at Delhi airport at 1800 Hours. Meet and greet at the airport
and check into The Oberoi, New Delhi. Dinner at Threesixty.
