STEP
The Oberoi Group is recognised for its leadership and excellence in hospitality. It is also recognised for its leadership in people training and development practices. The Oberoi Group established the Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development (OCLD, formerly Oberoi School of Hotel Management), recognised among the best in Asia, in 1966. To this day, most of the General Managers, Vice Persidents and senior executives of The Oberoi Group are graduates of OCLD.
The Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development initiated the unique Systematic Training and Education Programme (STEP) in 2004. This three-year programme, provides class XII pass outs the opportunity of acquiring specific and specialized training and knowledge in The Oberoi Group's hotels while pursuing a Bachelor of Tourism Studies (BTS) degree from the Indira Gandhi National Open University. We bear most expenses on behalf of the trainee including accommodation, the fee for the BTS Degree and in addition give a monthly stipend. This programme is currently hosted in eleven of The Oberoi Group's hotels and has over 250 trainees.

Hotels are part of service industry that meets the business, social and leisure needs of people who are away from home. The products are delivered to guests by four 'operations' departments:
