Trail 1 – The Old Highway trail
Distance: 8 km
Duration: 3 hrs
Grade: Easy
Most of this trail takes you along the original Hindoostan-Tibet Road which was constructed in 1853. It skirts Mashobra Hill and winds around the Presidential Retreat – the summer residence of the President of India. The forest trail descends from the helipad, a wonderful viewpoint on a hill adjacent to the Wildflower Hall. It then winds back through oak forests and apple orchards.
Trail 2 – The Bridle path
Distance: 6 km
Duration: 2 hrs
Grade: Challenging
This trail initially loops through the forest south of the Wildflower Hall. From the main gate, it follows a tarmac road to the helipad that offers a breathtaking 360 degree view of the mountains and valleys. From here, the trail leads to the Presidential Retreat, a beautiful gabled bungalow, once used by the Viceroys as a weekend retreat.
Trail 3 – The Hillock trail
Distance: 1.5 km
Duration: 30 mins
Grade: Easy
This short riding trail goes more than a few steps back in time. It loops within the twenty-two acres on which the Wildflower Hall is located. This picturesque, easy-paced ride through the dense groves of cedar actually retraces the century-old tracks of Lord Kitchener’s horse as the route was part of his daily trot around the property.
