Welcome to New Delhi.

The capital of India, Delhi has been continuously inhabited since the 6th century BCE and has served as a capital of various kingdoms and empires throughout its history. Exploring Delhi.

As one would expect, there is much to see in the country’s capital city.s

Red Fort.

Red Fort (Lal Qila) is an architectural masterpiece; an ancient fort enclosed within vast red sandstone walls, from which it derives its name. The Red Fort was the main seat of the Mughal emperors for almost two centuries, as well as the ceremonial and political centre of the State. Inside the vast enclosure lie fortified gates, the imperial residences, a step well, baths and gardens.

India Gate.

India Gate is a magnificent sandstone memorial arch (42 metres high) engraved with the names of the 90,000 Indian soldiers who lost their lives in World War One. Standing tall and serene at one end of Rajpath, the memorial is a wonderful sight to behold from every aspect as you drive around the busy ring road that is India Gate Circle. Stand at India Gate looking down Rajpath and you will see the magnificent Rashtrapati Bhawan (the President’s House).

Qutab Minar.

Qutab Minar is the second highest minar (tower) in India. An impressive 73 metres of red sandstone and white marble, it was commissioned by the first Sultan of Delhi in 1193, who sadly never got to see it in its full glory, as it took almost 200 years to complete. The tower has 349 steps. It is no longer open for the public to climb, but is a fantastic place to visit and photograph. Note: Qutab Minar is open from 10.00am to 5.00pm, every day except Sunday.
