Chambal River Safari in Ranthambhore

Since Ranthambhore is synonymous with tigers, it is easy to forget that the nearby Chambal River is home to India’s largest population of the critically endangered crocodilian: the Gharial. Characterised by its long thin jaws, which have naturally evolved over time to suit it’s predominantly fish diet, the Gharial is one of the largest living crocodilians, with males growing up to 6 metres long.
