Shaped by the Seasons: Experience Bandhavgarh’s Wildlife Throughout the Year

Embraced by the Vindhya Hills in Madhya Pradesh, Bandhavgarh National Park is a lush and rugged landscape rich in biodiversity, with a population of around 150 Royal Bengal Tigers.

Located just minutes from the park, The Oberoi Vindhyavilas Wildlife Resort, Bandhavgarh is a peerless oasis of luxury, from which you can experience private safaris and experience the changing mood of the jungle throughout the year.

Winter (October - February)

Winter is the best time to visit Bandhavgarh National Park, as it unfolds after the rainy season with refreshed forests and lush plains. Crisp air and clear days offer ideal conditions for tiger sightings. Having had fewer visitors in the preceding months, tigers move with greater ease along forest tracks and near waterbodies, making sightings more frequent and Bandhavgarh tiger reserve safaris more memorable.

Summer (March - June)

As the summer sun transforms Bandhavgarh National Park into a golden landscape, receding water bodies draw wildlife into the open. These months present opportunities to sight tigers at watering holes, sometimes alongside leopards and sloth bears. Deer, gazelles, antelopes and birds are also tempted out of the thinning jungle in search of water. Safaris in the cooler mornings are especially rewarding, revealing the park’s inhabitants at their most animated.

Monsoon (July - September)

After the heat of the summer sun, Bandhavgarh National Park becomes an emerald oasis of dense jungle in the monsoon rains. The core zones of the park close to visitors at this time, but safaris still take place in the buffer zones. During the monsoon season, The Oberoi Vindhyavilas Wildlife Resort, Bandhavgarh also offers exclusive bird watching experiences and guided nature walks around its park-like grounds (weather permitting).

An unforgettable destination at any time of the year, wildlife experiences at Bandhavgarh National Park are intricately linked to the changing mood of the seasons. From private safaris around the park to bird watching in the grounds of Bandhavgarh National Park resorts, topped off with luxurious stays at The Oberoi Vindhyavilas Wildlife Resort, Bandhavgarh – when you meet the wilderness on its own terms, no two journeys are the same.
